The Legend of Nopon Village: Guardians

As custom, the Heropon called all the Merpons, Babypons, Littlepons, and Nopons to the center of the village to tell them the story of the guardians of Nopon Village.

Heropon: “A long time ago, when Heropon was a Babypon, giant creatures attacked the village. The creatures were bigger than the Hom Homs. It was the first time that Nopons had seen creatures like these. Everyone in the village was afraid, running away worriedly but there was nowhere to hide. The large creatures wanted to govern the Nopons—“

A Littlepon interrupted, saying: “But a brave Nopon escaped and turned into the first Heropon!”

All the Babypons and Littlepons chanted simultaneously: “Agunimon, the first Heropon!”

Heropon: “Yes, the first Heropon was a Nopon that saved our home. He bravely slipped away from the big creatures and went to look for help. He walked a lot but couldn’t find help. His sadness brought him down to the point he gave up many times. But he still wanted to save his friends, Littlepons, and Wifeypon so remembering them gave him the courage to continue looking. Many days passed until the Nopon had no more reinforcements and was in a strange land. He fainted in front of strange rocks.

“While he laid on the ground, he heard a voice that asked him: ‘Do you want to save your people?’ The Nopon didn’t question where the voice had come from and simply answered ‘yes’. The voice responded that he had seen the Nopon had a brave heart and would give him his power. The Nopon asked, ‘What is your name?’ The voice responded, ‘My name is Agunimon. From today on, that is what we will be called.’ The strange rock that was in front of the Nopon began to shine. Suddenly, the Nopon and the rock came together to create a new creature that was similar to the giant creatures that attacked the village.

“Agunimon returned to the village and began fighting with the other creatures. No Nopon in the village knew what was happening. After the fierce fighter Agunimon defeated all the creatures that had invaded the village, happiness and fear overcame the Nopons. Agunimon asked the Nopons to calm down and they heard his story. Agunimon explained that the creatures were called digimon and that there were good like him and bad like his opponents were. The digimon that had invaded wanted to govern the planet. Agunimon warned that this would not be the last time the bad digimon would attack the village. He also explained that he used all his power to destroy the bad digimon but promised to call forth a group of digimon to protect the village. After he finished explaining, Agunimon shone brightly and separated from the Nopon, sending four lights in different directions. The Nopon was named leader of the village as Heropon Agunimon and to this day, the village chooses a Heropon to protect the village. All the Nopons of the village cheered loudly, celebrating the great Agunimon as the first Heropon.”

The Littlepons asked the Heropon to tell the story of the Guardians. The Heropon continued:

“Years passed since Agunimon said the digi-digi would return but no bad digi-digi or the guardians had shown up. This time, many Heropons led but had forgotten what happened in the past. Another ceremony to choose a new Heropon began but unexpectedly, the sky became darker and rain began to fall on the village.

“The village began to be attacked again by the digimon. The current Heropon was scared because the digi-digi were very big for a little Nopon to fight. But the Heropon remembered his responsibilities and went to find the tomb of the great Agunimon to ask for help. The Heropon was in front of the first Heropon, great Agunimon’s tomb and said:

‘Heropon not strong enough to stop digi-digi but Heropon want to save Wifeypon and all Nopon of village. Heropon believe in promise of Agunimon but Heropon cannot wait for Guardians. Heropon will sacrifice life to give time to Guardians. Oh, dear Agunimon, fulfill promise to Heropon and Heropon fulfill mine.’

“Heropon said these words to ready himself to fight. With cane in hand, Heropon stood in front of the big digi-digi as they attacked the village. The Heropon heard a howl far off. It was a metallic wolf that said:

‘I am MetalGarurumon and I have come to protect the village.’

“All the Nopon were jumping happily for MetalGarurumon’s appearance although there were many bad digi-digi to fight. Later, a fox with many tails appeared and before fighting, the fox transformed into attractive hom-hom with a fox mask. The Wifeypon of Heropon smacked Heropon because this digi-digi that looked like a hom-hom was very beautiful and made Wifeypon jealous. The digi-digi hom-hom said:

‘My name is Sakuyamon and I have come to protect the Nopon.’

“Many Nopons were happy but not very many Wifeypons. The battle continued and the bad digi-digi decreased but it wasn’t enough because there were still many. From the sky a bird lady joined the fight. She said she was Angewomon. The 3 Guardians defeated all the bad digi-digi that attacked the village but soon another digi-digi appeared alone and more powerful. The 3 Guardians attacked together to weaken the bad digi-digi but they were tired and didn’t have enough strength left.

“The Nopons were scared, looking on at their Guardians that may no longer be able to fight for them. But Heropon remembered that the Nopon could also help. So all Nopon of the village, big and small, took each others’ hands and screamed, ‘We won’t give up!’ The bad digi-digi began to laugh and said the Nopon were insignificant creaturas. But the Nopon were not disheartened and continued shouting. The bad digi-digi were distracted by the cries of the Nopons and the cries of our ancestors became an energy that shot into the sky. The sky cleared and a hole appeared in the clouds. Another bird person descended from the clouds and said with a strong voice:

‘I am MagnaAngemon. I have come to protect the Nopon and their village from harm.’

“The digi-digi attacked MagnaAngemon but couldn’t get through his armor. MagnaAngemon drew a circle in the air with his sword and said:

‘Your time of terrorizing these small creatures is over. They are small in size but big in heart. You have underestimated them and wished to rule over them but you cannot break their spirits. For them we will make sure to stop you. Gates of Destiny!’

“A circle of light appeared and its gates opened, sucking the bad digi-digi inside. The circle of light disappeared and the Nopon celebrated the victory. Agunimon, when he first saved us, had been in contact with these Guardians. The Guardians were waiting for our spirits to wish to protect our village and our loved ones. Since that day, the Guardians have been with us. MetalGarurumon watches over the land; Sakuyamon rests in our village, waiting until we need help; Angewomon flies the sky above the village and MagnaAngemon flies even higher to watch out for oncoming danger. They protect their digi-digi friends and have kept their promise to save us when needed. All we have to do is believe in our hearts that we need to protect each other and our village.”

The littlepon applauded for the Guardians and returned home. Meanwhile, the digimon Metalgarurumon, Sakuyamon, Angewomon, and MagnaAngemon were taking care of watching over the village.
